Martin Eisenstadt was not - I repeat - was not Carl Cameron’s source for the Sarah Palin smears

(Update: As I was saying.)
Let me just get this off my chest once and for all: Martin Eisenstadt was not the source for Carl Cameron’s Fox News story about “anonymous sources” telling him that Sarah Palin did not know whether Africa was a continent or country, threw temper tantrums, etc.
Cameron spent the entire campaign with McCain. He knew everyone who worked there. He never spoke to Eisenstadt at all. The “anonymous sources” are still anonymous, and all they were doing was dumping blame on Palin to take the focus off the fact that those on McCain’s campaign were horribly, horribly inept.
So for bloggers and others who now know that Eisenstadt is a hoax, yet now believe that somehow Eisenstadt tricked Cameron, well, you are equally guilty as MSNBC and others who fell for the original story from Eisenstadt.
Whoever told Cameron about Palin’s foibles remains anonymous. This really shouldn’t be that difficult to figure out.
P.S.: And, yes, I exist. I do dabble in satire, but I’m not a hoax. Seriously, people, you’re killing me here.

I’m confused.
Maybe I’m a hoax.
I believe in you! Seriously, I think the tongue in cheek in the Times would only confuse the people who voted for McCain. Oh no!, that’s 46% of the country. I’m sorry. But the rest of us believe in you, and science, and evolution and global warming. The original hoaksters gave you quite a kudos. Good job!
[...] 2. Having one of biggest newspapers on the planet insinuate that you’re a hoax - not so much. Update: From Jerry Ludwig in comments: “I believe in you! Seriously, I think the tongue in cheek in the Times would only confuse the people who voted for McCain. Oh no!, that’s 46% of the country.” [...]
[...] 4. Their hoax that Eisenstadt was the one who leaked the Palin info has created a new false meme - that they were the ones who fooled Cameron in the first place, thus the original smears were not true and that Palin deserves an apology. This just isn’t the case, and even Mirvish has admitted as such. Nonetheless, I’m feeling pretty confident that many, many people will believe that Cameron was hoaxed, regardless. I completely agree that the Palin smears are a sideshow and unfair to her. Sarah Palin did not lose the election for John McCain. The people John McCain chose to run his campaign lost it. And more than that, Barack Obama won it. Nonetheless, the “anonymous sources” - obviously campaign members looking to get the stench of an inept campaign off of them - are still anonymous, and after seeing the vitriol unleashed at “Eisenstadt,” they will likely stay that way.
