RIP Andrew Breitbart
March 1, 2012 by William K. Wolfrum
News is coming in and is appearing to be verified that Andrew Breitbart has died. He was 43. I can put it no better than what I just tweeted:
I feel absolutely no sense of schadenfreude or any type of hate when I say I’m sorry to hear about Breitbart. Young men dying is a tragedy.
My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

While I appreciate your sentiment, and while I try to keep what you wrote in mind, in this case I have to admit my first thought was “Good riddance! What an asshole that guy was.”
I’ve lost a handful of friends at about the same age as Breitbart. I understand the tragedy of dying young, the sadness for those left behind. But try as I might, as much as I’m rallying my “judge not” ethics, I just can’t feel bad about this. Or sad, or sympathetic. I’m happy about it. This is what the party of Dick Cheney and G.W. Bush has reduced me to. Not to blame them or anything…
By the way I love and generally agree with your writings. Thanks so much!
If he wasn’t a little outrageous, no one would have ever heard of him. When it comes right down to it he was just a guy speaking his mind, often saying shit for the sake of saying shit. I know I’m guilty of that occasionally.
May he rest in peace.
